I'd like to make a comment about one of the Initiatives. There may be one of those hidden agendas involving Amendment 59. The idea of a school savings account sounds really good, as does putting other funds to work for our schools. The problem enters when I realize that the Amendment also removes the funding increases to adjust for inflation. I find myself trying to remember how often we taxpayers have received tax refunds. This is, I believe, the only funding targeted to replace the inflationary increases. I have a bad feeling that this change would actually decrease funding to the schools and provide nothing to fund that great savings account idea.
