Ha, ha... that comment of Paige's reminds me of my Texas relative. When I told him (proudly) that Skorman had stood up to the Westboro Baptist Church haters by saying they weren't welcome in Colorado Springs, my relative said, "I thought Skorman was supposed to be TOLERANT...look how INTOLERANT he is...what a bigot..." proving that a conservative can hate ANYTHING they choose to, while trying to make their hate look like the "correct" attitude. That's what Paige and Laugensen are doing now.
Colorado Springs is urban sprawl at its worst...which candidate is going to change directions? The past IS the past, those fancy-schmancy malls ARE built (and inaccessible to anyone who needs bus transportation, too), but which new mayor would try to bring Colorado Springs around to reality thinking? You can't build new malls and new houses forever...you have to improve quality of life for everyone, if you want a real community, not just a "gated community world." I think the above commenters would do WELL if they walked in the shoes of the ordinary people - try buying a used book and a delicious slice of pizza and sit next to someone who has less than you, for a change!
truthtrecker: The quote you give is junk science from an "institute" created by and staff by religious people... interesting how these bcp people admitted they were "shut down" at a National Cancer Institute conference. They seem to recommend lots of pregnancies as a preventive measure, which is blantantly false. Like fake "crisis pregnancy centers," this site appears to be another calculated measure to trick women. Apparently, in antichoice circles lying is not considered an equal "sin" to abortion, even though abortion is NOT mentioned in the Bible, while LYING is mentioned numerous times (the lake of fire & brimstone ring any bells?).
Mr. Pedigo, your attempt at logic is underwhelming. YES, I am for gay rights and women's rights. Yes, I try to convince other people that gays & women should have control over their lives AND the full legal rights that heterosexuals and men have. Guilty as charged of invoking the Declaration of Independence, "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" for everyone.
Oh, and I'm not "anti-Christian" I'm anti harassing, intimidating, terrorizing Christians. Christians in their churches or wearing crosses on their necks or practicing Jesus' words of peace - they are my dearest friends. Christians marching outside health clinics? Not so much.
Responding to Mr. Pete: actually, the ratio of a:b (employer's salary:lowest paid employee's salary) HAS been done. Ben & Jerry limited their CEO salaries to 10x the lowest paid employee (I can't find the exact % online any more, and I thought it was 5x...but the point is, they paid themselves by this type formula). Of course, Republicans & conservatives call them "socialists." They were talking the talk AND walking the walk.
