Thanks, Gary. A true murder ballad must indeed have blood and malicious intent, or we cheapen the very meaning of words.... I usually count half of all lyrical music as murder ballad, but that's just my bad.
This one is not to be missed! Seriously!!
I honestly thought the guitars had a Lloyd-Verlaine quality in at least three tracks.
Seeing as how you carried a profile article on the page-poetry winner, Julianza Shavin, at the end of 2011, I find it odd that you left her off your list. But then again, that's what happens when you don't list all the first-place winners, something is bound to seem unfair. In general, it simply isn't good form.
Trying like hell to get to your last reading tonight! I wish you wonderful travels and experiences!
No, what he describes is definitely a very common Y phenomenon, including up in Monument. There will no doubt be buff 75-year-olds who will say, "Oh, he's just being ageist, what about those of us who are proud of how we look?" But I'm in my mid-50s, and I will say, whether you're flabby or fit, once you're over 50, no one (or very few people) wants to see you naked.
Re: “Hear Here”
Great space and wonderful group of poets reading. Lady Speech was unbelievable, I'm sure there will be many great guests in the future.
