Creatives and artists took what no one wanted, plus a drug inhabited park, and made it into a viable shopping area and really cool place to draw thousands of visitors with a shuttle bus to closeby galleries like smokebrush, rubbish, and heebee geebees, they all supported each other and created the Arts Depot District. We did it and it worked, we even had a great impact on the park and art festivals and famers market that was now safe to visit. the city sees all the wonderful tourists and visitors and then says, oh well we can't have this, we want the money, so artists get out ! destroying the support market for two galleries now gone, the cottonwood school having to move to an area with no shuttles or support shopping, destroying the entire art depot district. only a tiny smokebrush and bridge gallery are left. no shuttles, and visitors don't have a clue what other galleries are even nearby. the city singlehandedly did this. Shame shame on you ! then the artists ask to go to the empty building near the park to keep the whole art scene intact, and the city said, no, we don't want your money, we'll GIVE it to the USOC instead. i call that shooting yourself in the foot !
