What happens to those of us that have depended on the food pantry? I realize how selfish I sound, but our family heavily depend on that pantry to get by. No word up. So we used some of the precious gas, hoping for something to help Easter meal. Get there, to late to go anywhere else. Blessed Easter.
Thank you for writing this story. You have it spot on. If I was as articulate as you are,I would have written it myself.
I lived here when I was a child (late 50's & early 60's). Moved away to the West Coast. I moved back here to live in the house I loved in childhood & come back to the city I was so proud of, with so many things to offer.
The last 8 or so years, I have watched with great sadness, as all of the things that made this town a Gem of the Rockies, have slipped away or faded to shadows of the former Springs. I vote, I get involved, but it feels hopeless.
Everything that makes people want to visit here & live here, that set us apart, just do not matter to the powers that be anymore. The bottom line continues to become lower.
All one has to do is follow the news in the evening, read the paper (what is left) or attend city council meetings to realize the truth in your comments.
Thank you for stating what should be obvious. Those that question your statements are likely the ones contributing by vote or otherwise, to the very issues.
