Tax evader Douglas Bruce has written a letter that advises readers to shun public sector officials, who he describes as "conniving con artists, past and present, who create and exploit problems rather than solve them". As a highly notable past conniving con artist and actual past con, Mr. Bruce is aptly qualified to be the pot calling the kettle black. And to his point regarding the poor current state of the local roads, much of the blame can go directly to him, the author of TABOR, who helped unpave the path to Colorado Springs' prosperity.
Food security amongst residents is amongst the most critical needs of any community, for without there are moderate to severe impacts on public health, local economy, academic performance and quality life. Government plays a significant role in addressing this growing problem via public policy. Councilor Gaebler knows this and is to be commended for taking a proactive approach - grabbing the goat by the horns if you will.
As for all you big/any government involvement equals bad government people out there, this proposal should even appeal to you, as it will involve NGO's, faith-based organizations and the like and empower the individual to "lift themselves up by the bootstraps".
The answers are amongst us. With support from local government we will address some core issues that benefit all citizens and put the b-a-a-a-d behind us.
As always, we are very appreciative of the promotion of community centers to Indy readers. Please come out on Friday for what promises to be a great time.
Thank you, MisterM and Zen for lending insight beyond a basic viewpoint. And for CS Indy a request to host a roundtable discussion at which readers like the three of us could attend. I am convinced that bringing these contrasting perspectives together would be a positive step towards redirecting the shipwreck and developing sound strategy for and unification within our divided City.
Go Indy! Not withstanding the previous comments, you do represent the viewpoints of thousands of us who rely on you to provide us with the skinny on issues that impact us today and will impact us in the future. TABOR and Bruce, taxes and Republicans, intolerance and Evengelicals all need close examination so that we can become an informed - and hopefully inspired - community. Thanks for leading the charge with a flag in your arms that is one other than the white flag of truce. Keep pushing...
