Wow, wow, wow. I won passes to the Minus the Bear show at the Black Sheep from the csindy and I am still in awe. The three bands were all very good. As Tall As Lions and Minus The Bear were outstanding. The staff are very concientious and controlled the audience with skill, not as easy a task as some people might assume. The audience, on the whole were very polite but pretty stiff - saw some swaying but no dancing which is a shame because each group performed extreemly danceable music.
Overall I give the evening five stars.
My girlfriend and I went based on Matt's review for lunch. Maya was not there and the place smelled wonderful.
There is no lunch menu and the price for my sandwich was $10.95. It came with very little lamb, a small amount of lettuce, chopped tomato and a lovely sauce, but it was served on a dinner plate with nothing else and it was skimpy. My girlfriend's dish was $12.95, it came with what looked like buckwheat pancakes, rolled up and cut into slices - these were cold in the middle. It was very tasty but she said she couldn't pin down what the meat was, it could have been beef, chicken or lamb.
The service was slow, and while we were offered rosewater lemonade and tea in tiny golden glasses, our food took over 45 minutes to arrive.
Overall we were less than impressed and thought that the prices were way out of line for a lunch and the food that we were served.
