I am a freelance musician living in Fountain and am currently a senior at Fountain-Fort Carson High School. I operate a private recording studio out of my house, which I use for my two current musical projects: Rubber Band Method and Motivated to Murder. Rubber Band Method could be described as a pseudo-folk jam band. While it originated as a solo project, it is slowly evolving into something much greater. I consider RBM my child. Motivated to Murder is a local death/thrash metal band composed of Fountain residents Hank Martinez, Trenton Houser, myself, and John Wilson (who is also a member of Rubber Band Method). As for myself, I consider myself an intellectual...a scholar even. I have an ACT score of 29, and I plan to pursue a career in journalism and writing. I support the legalization of cannabis, and I have a deep interest in medicinal and entheogenical plants and substances. I find it difficult to describe my political views. I'm in a different category all together. I once took a political aptitude test which described my views as "a liberal-leaning libertarian", however, it goes much deeper than that. I would describe myself as a Liberal Individualist, or maybe a Liberal Rightist. I believe wholly in the importance of individuality and freedom of choice. In this way, I'm sort of like a conservative, except all my other views are liberal. I am pro-choice, against gun control, against corporatism, against religion, and am for immigration. I never make political decisions based on party affiliation. I am one of the kindest people you will meet. I know that seems conceited to say, but it's true. I am emotionally calm, and I have nerves of steel. As of now, I have NEVER been in a physical fight...and that's a hell of an achievement for a high school student. Now, I'm going to list some of my favorite works and influences, in hopes that it will give you a good idea of what kind of person I am. Bands: Grateful Dead, Cat Stevens, Phish, moe., Yonder Mountain String Band, Rush, The Gorillaz, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Joe Cocker, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Michael Franti, John Fogerty, CCR, Neil Young, Pink Floyd, The Polyphonic Spree, Paul Simon, SRV, Tenacious D, and Yes. Authors: Hunter S. Thompson, William Shakespeare, Mary Shelley, Stephen King, Michael Crichton, J.D. Salinger, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Lewis Carroll, T.S. Eliot, Douglas Adams, Antoine de Saint-Exupery, Kurt Vonnegut, P.K. Dick, Aldous Huxley, Ayn Rand, George Orwell, Anthony Burgess, Frank Herbert, Ken Kesey. Books: A Clockwork Orange, The Rum Diary, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Great Shark Hunt, The Great Gatsby, The Fountainhead, 1984, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, The Tragedy of Hamlet, Frankenstein, The Beach, Syrup, Jeniffer Government, Animal Farm, Beowulf, The Odyssey, The Catcher in the Rye, Brave New World, Dune, Anthem, A Scanner Darkly, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Ender's Game.

Re: “The Bookman

Because of journalistic integrity, I shouldn't in good faith say that Bookman is the best book store in Colorado Springs. That would be irresponsible, it would be biased....and it would be true. Walk into Bookman, and you will be assaulted by the nostalgic odor of countless dusty volumes: from leatherbounds to paperbacks, covering every subject imaginable. I have been a regular customer for years. I highly recommend you pay a visit to Bookman, and be sure you take some of your old books to trade in for store credit. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and are also very knowledgeable in the field of literature. Because so many people bring in books for trade, their inventory of books is constantly changing. Because of this, you can pay countless visits to Bookman, and I guarantee you will find something that you haven't seen yet.

In my opinion, used books are the best books. There is no where in Colorado Springs with as fantastic and as varying of a collection as Bookman, and this is why they are undoubtedly the best book store in town.
