I was actually the guy who built the (admittedly ugly) website and laid out every issue cover to cover...on top of my full time job. You refer virtually nothing in this article about our content, aside from accusing us of being birthers twice. I had the privilege of reading every issue that was ever printed in the paper, and the hundreds more that were posted on the web; not a single article even mentioned the birther issue. In fact, I'd suggest that fully half of our writers leaned libertarian and weren't even fans of Reagan.
Hacks you are. You mentioned us two or three times during the year we were publishing; each time with nothing but snide remarks and false accusations. Try reporting on what we actually did or at least offering a fair opinion on our content. Politics aside, I'd expected a little more sympathy and respect from a fellow opinion paper.
@patriotic green: It's spelled "cited" for crying out loud. As for the rest of your lengthy musings, you lost me when you played the race card. You said you spoke to Tea Party attendees today—were you there?
You should be shocked that these sponsoring organizations sold tickets to the event! After all, surely astroturf is well-funded and can spend a few thousand dollars to showcase their fringe candidates, right?
Or, perhaps more likely, each of these organizations are run by diligent, employed conservatives of average means; folks who have poured so much of their spare time and personal money into their efforts that they weren't about to (or were unable to) shell out several thousand dollars for a venue. That and, yeah, we're capitalists.
Ultimately, I don't suppose it matters what you think, as the joint was packed out—standing room only, and not even much of that. Keep your fingers crossed: maybe one day a "citizen-corporation" will sponsor the event and make it a free-for-all for you and your friends. But then, I doubt you'd come anyway at the risk of losing your ability to call a bunch of middle-aged, loving, salt-of-the earth folks "fringe" in good conscience.
Shucks! You must have found that typo just a day or two before we did...and to think I'm usually so meticulous! Thank you for the free publicity, but we've only had 4 visitors referred from your website since this blog post was published. Either your readers aren't interested in us beyond your sarcastic take, or you don't have many readers. Hopefully this page sees a bit more lift due to our link back...and you're certainly welcome! :)
