If this indictment is any indication, I have a feeling it's only the beginning of finding out what Mr. Bruce does in his sleazy, self-propelled life.
The sad news is that Sean Paige was defeated? Really? You're joking, right? It's the best news ever, and it also sends a message to Mr. Paige that the people of our community do not buy into his self-absorbed, self-serving agenda. Mr. Paige was not elected by the people in his district but appointed to serve out that opening on City Council, and knew he couldn't win by running in his own district. Instead, he chose to run for an at-large seat, thinking that was a shoe-in. Wrong! Get back to reality, Mr. Paige. It will serve you well in the future. You too, Mr. H.
Interesting that Newsome let that case obtain obscurity status in his office until May checked it out. This was a big deal and the fact that Newsome did not even try to get a special prosecutor but instead let the case languish in limbo is very interesting. Something smells rotten.
As Ranger Rich has pointed out, the Gazette happily took Bircham's money for years and ran his incredibly racist rants/advertisements, and although I, along with many others, complained regularly, they never stopped running them. (Big shock, right?) After years and years, Eddie apparently ran out of money and his ads ultimately disappeared. Although Rich's column is stupefyingly hilarious, we should all be outraged that this man is running for City Council. Just think of what could possibly be....City Councilmen Ed Bircham, Sean Paige, Dougie Bruce, and Tom Gallagher running our fair city. BE AFRAID. Be very afraid...
Give us a little credit here. Voters aren't as dumb as some would like to think. People knew what they were voting for, and if they didn't...well...then they should take the time to actually read each ballot issue.
All one had to do was read the term limit ballot question. It was very clear. Voters are not as stupid as many of you seem to think. They knew what they were voting for, so give them some credit here.
Think about it...would you take a job if you knew it was only for four years or eight years and then you'd be forced to find another one? Probably not. So a three term limit makes more sense. It gives the individuals time to do some quality work and see it through to fruition. It invests them in their jobs and in doing the best they can.
And to goldsabbath: Doug Bruce is the master of deception. Not a good example to bring up.
Re: “Update: Myers out as police chief; Council wasn't consulted”
Is this a Strong Mayor or a Dictator? This has always worried me about the Strong Mayor concept and now I see my worries are confirmed.
