And your point is what? There just has to be an hidden agenda somewhere, right Pam? Or could it be that there are a lot of very caring people with just an agenda to turn this City around to Prosperity?
Many City's around the country have had to change their old ways of doing business in order to change their financial shortfalls, why should we not incorporate and embrace those ideas! Outsourcing certain services only makes sense when we are facing such an unfunded problem with PERA in the very near future, why not report on the City's real problem with the retirement program, close to a billion dollars for all of the Divisions!
All of us had parents and a mother, Charles Manson, Ted Bundy and other deviates as well who will love them to the end. Josh made a decision to pursue his own pleasures not once but over and over. I will pray for Josh and all of his victims that they may find peace and forgiveness for what had occurred!
The overriding issue here is that he was a person of Trust associated with law enforcement (a black eye for those who took an oath to uphold higher standards).
You have got to be KIDDING! She is to blame for a lot of our financial problems that we face as a City! She did not stand up along with the City Manager and say no to Council when their projections for the budget revenue were wrong! She also did not stand up when Council moved Budget line items that could not really be funded!
She should have been terminated in 2008 for the lack of guidance from her office! I welcome her to the world of unemployment that a lot of us are living in!
Steve Cox is the most upright individual that I have known with the City of Colorado Springs, honest and forthright. These charges are foolish and a waste of taxpayer money to defend. The USOC was the previous administration of which most involved are gone from office either by term limits or voted out!
All of this takes the focus off of the City and it's real financial problems. It was high time that Ms Velasquez was relieved of her position for the lack of foresight required in these economic times!
I salute you Mayor Bach for not signing such a proclamation in the grand scheme of things it will not change the problems that face this community!
John you wrote that; History forgives many sins. Bill Clinton will not be judged by his multiple dalliances. He'll get a pass, just as Kennedy and Roosevelt did. Lincoln was no saint, and neither was Mother Teresa — but history will little note nor long remember their faults.
It is the faults of man and our acceptance of the degradation of our society that will lead to our ultimate demise of the United States and this World! I remember when man had a true respect for the Law, the Government, was willing to support his neighbor (and new him/her by name) and a Fear of God.
Charlie Daniels said it well in the song a "Simple Man". You know whats wrong with your world today? People done gone and put their Bibles away. They are living by the law of the jungle not the law of the land. The Bible says so I know it's the truth an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. You better watch where you're going and remember where you've been. That's the way I see it I'm just a simple man.
Forget History and you are destine to repeat it, just read the Bible an accord from the beginning of time and History does repeat itself over and over!
John I quote you "History forgives many sins", you could not be farther from the truth your sins have been forgiven by the grace and mercy of Jesus and his work from the cross, but you must be willing to repent (turn from this world to Him). I recommend a healthy respect for the Lord God for every knee will bow!
@goldsabbath; You continue to stand up and beat your PROUD chest as though you were King Kong making assumptions and statements about those you donot even know! The City abused the Stormwater program just as they have abused the PPRTA agreement by hiring (from temporary services their own employees) and purchasing equipment under the guise of performing PPRTA work in-house which the agreement prohibits!
As to businesses leaving I could name them but what would that accomplish, just drive around town and see for yourself! Last but not least if you enjoy paying more in taxes and fees then just STEP UP and write the CITY a CHECK for any amount you like, I'm sure that they will accept it. Then you can drive up Pikes Peak bare your chest and Beat IT telling the world what a Benefactor that you truly are to this City!
@ Goldsabbath, Your first paragraph holds no water and is full of speculation and untruths! Many businesses closed or moved out of this area over the added expense from the Stormwater enterprise! More taxes won't solve the issue as you proclaim, this has been proven over the last 30 plus years! Only a sincere honest effort in reducing the Overhead and unpaid liabilities will turn this City around!
If you are so unhappy maybe you should heed your own advice and go someplace else where you can ride for free on someone else's dime for we certainly haven't!
