I don’t work there and am not friends of the owner, but I know who he is. I am a local and frequent the downtown. The King’s Chef is what small business ownership is all about; choice – the choice to not put up with credit card fees and the choice to not put up with rude customers. This is not Taco Bell / corporate America. I know to bring cash and I know my money is staying local. Being a long time customer it appears that the owner and other employees work hard for that money too. No, the food is not health food. If you want a salad go to Souper Salad. When I want some great green chili or I just want a nice indulgence and breakfast or lunch visit with some friends I go here. An occasional “Grump” or “Thing” (large breakfast items) after an early morning bike ride isn’t bad either. I have been in there with and without my young daughters and have always been treated well…and my girls are always treated very sweetly. Then again I try my best to treat people kindly and fairly and therefore generally get that in return. No silver spoon here. I would definitely recommend the King’s Chef.
