Diane has it right. Trustees were and are appointed by City Council and Have as their primary responsibility the best interests of the hospital in providing the highest quality health care for all in the Pikes Peak Region. Councilman Paige, who asserted that the city should be prepared to act on the recommendations of the council's own commission, has been unhappy with the commission recommendation and believes that the health system and the Board - as volunteer leaders and citizens of Colorado Springs - should have no voice in what they believe is in the best interests of the community as a whole. Shame on him.
