I am not surprised to see that the mayor and Steve Cox has hired someone to defend them . I guess my complaint is , we the people of Colorado Springs will be paying the legal fees for them . As far as restoring trust in these people , you must think we are stupid . Ms Velasquez ask for someone to look into the financial mis management of Cox and other legal problems in the city . The lawyers that are being hired are not CPA"s or Accounting people who look for financial problems . These people ( are employment Lawyers ) . What do they know about financial problems in the city files ?
Of course that is , if the files are still there . I heard there were threats to destroy the records . These stories float around the work place and can sometimes be true . Cover ups of crooked people happen everyday , the ones in charge make sure of that .
How many of the citizens of Colorado Springs want to foot the legal fees for Cox and Bach ? The City council ,( Hente being related to Steve Cox ) of course would approve of defending the leaders . Blood is thicker than water . As a tax payer I do not want my money used to defend either of these men ( Cox and Bach ) wake up City Council we are on to this plan of yours .
Do the right thing and hire CPA's and ACCOUNTING Firms to really restore the trust in leaders .
I want to answer City Council President Hente question on how Cox and Ms Velasquez had different ideas on city finances . Lets see her education BS/MBA/CPA in finances and her honesty , doing her job according to the law was how she did her job .
Cox on the other hand liked to bend the finance laws to suit his own personal projects .
So the answer Mr Hente is this , Ms Velasquez believed in doing her job with the " Laws of honesty" to the citizens of Colorado Springs and Mr Cox did not . His goal has been and will remain to be his own personal gain.
