Re: “Public Policy Polling killed recall numbers

I never saw an ad for either side of the recall that mentioned any specifics of the gun-control measures introduced by Morse. I never saw any specifics about Giron at all - just her picture beside Morse's. I don't think this recall had anything to do with issues. The Republicans sensed an opening and jumped on it. They won by superior marketing and messaging. Shame on them for doing it, but also shame on Morse and the Democrats for allowing them to. Just once I'd like to see a political debate that focuses on the real issues instead of trying to tar the other side with exaggerated or outright false accusations.

Re: “Bennett flip-flops on YMCA recusal

I can find no evidence for your assertion that the YMCA is a Catholic-run organization. Can you point me to a reference?

Re: “Just say the word

I'm starting to think we elected the wrong guy mayor. Williams sounds like a better leader as well as a better administrator.

Re: “The Gazette: Getting it wrong

I mourn the loss of any newspaper, even the Gazette. News is a lot more than just "content" and there's far too little of it these days, including online sources. I don't believe that competition with online sources is killing the Gazette. I think they're killing themselves with mediocrity.

Re: “How the GOP can win

Oldcrank, you are demonstrably wrong. As of today, national polls show Obama beating all specific Republican candidates (except Romney in just a couple of polls), and pretty well tied with a "generic" Republican. This indicates that the race could realistically go either way, at least with the current set of candidates. And keep in mind that this is probably the worst time for Obama in the polls. If the economy and unemployment rates show improvement over the next year, his numbers will certainly rise. I see no basis for Republican over-confidence at this point.

Re: “Fight for your right

Yet another case of upside-down priorities by the CSPD. While stating that they lack the resources to investigate burglaries, car-thefts, and vandalism, they somehow find the wherewithal to stage stings in bars and arrest MMJ patients.
