City Streets are real estate. They are property. As such their maintenance is a property issue, not a sales tax issue. We have a choice to shop locally or not. The retail field is already terribly lopsided. Many of our national retailers are already gone. Just visit our Norh or South Malls. The new First and Main is currently thriving, but for how long?
A sales tax to fix our street problem is short sighted. Anderson has laid out for us a much better solutions that are long term and favorable for Colorado Springs future. Sales tax for streets in not one of them.
In 1968 my brother came home from his stint in the Navy. I was about twelve years old. He brought with him, among a host of other music, Tom Rush. My whole family has been in love with his music ever since. I try to catch every performance I find him at within 100 miles of us here in Colorado Springs. Can't wait for tomorrow night in Black Forest. Doesn't get any cozier than that place.
