I live downtown and crime is not a problem. Downtown does have bars and where there are bars, there will be fights. NO camera will ever prevent or stop a fight. This is nothing more than a feel good fix for an issue that is not there. The only issue about downtown is the homeless. I have never seen them get violent but they do panhandle. This is what happens when you have a shelter in the heart of a small downtown. Get rid of the shelter (not politically correct) and you will be able to manager or get rid of the homeless situation. Other than food and drink, I see no reason to shop downtown. It is not convenient to get parking, you have to constantly watch the parking meters, and shopping has always been over priced with a very limited selection. I see parking and the parking meters as a bigger problem to downtown, than crime, because of comments from my friends. We meet for lunch or dinner often, but they won't come downtown because of parking, not crime.
