Please note, we are not "enviros", but rather ordinary citizens, moms, dads, farmers, teachers, and ordinary citizens who care about the health, safety and future of our communities. It's important to note that Coalition for a Clean Colorado is a grassroots community based alliance, not an "enviro" in the traditional sense. We want clean air and water, but also clean government and local, clean energy democracy. That is, the right for people and communities to own and generate their own clean energy.
RE: "I need to find out more about who is financing it, the goals and objectives, and its strategies before I decide to join," says Mary Talbott.
To answer Mary Talbott's questions:
Who is financing c3? Right now nobody. We are a 100% grassroots volunteer effort. But to sustain and build our capacity we will be gearing up to receive financial contributions from people and foundations who support our cause so we can become an effective force to defend the public interest.
What are our goals and objectives? Our first and primary objective is to unite and support the efforts of grassroots citizen groups cropping up all around the state to defend their communities from destructive oil and gas development. Community interests often get lumped with conservation and the environment. But these interests don’t fully represent citizen concerns that encompass public health, government accountability, and energy democracy issues. The need for a Coalition that represents the grassroots on the state level was urgent, so we founded c3. Education and advocacy will be our primary focus but we are also engaging in the Governors Task Force on oil and gas regulation and upcoming legislative process.
