I'll be one of the first to agree with your proposed changes. Its citizen's can't just wish or think of new changes, they have to step up and MAKE those changes, even if it means paying to bring those changes into reality.
But as a military retiree I have to differ with you regarding your military retiree statement. I, too, am a conservative but I believe your military retiree generalization is not altogether true. My family and I retired here because we felt it is a great place to live and raise a family. Additionally, I don't believe we are the only ones living here on fixed incomes or living on less than we were earning five years ago. I think everyone in our country, state and city has been affected by our poor economy. I'm confident that we, military retirees, aren't the ones responsible for driving the younger folks away, so I think we as a community need to find ways to keep them interested in staying here in Colorado Springs...not dishing off blame on us.
That said, let's relocate the power plant, make OUR waterway the destination of choice and launch the trolley car! I'm a military retiree that won't take the blame but stands by your ideas and willing to take action and PAY for them.
