HS - I apologize, I should have said that is my belief based on what I have read, researched on the Web, and the very tone of comments. You are right, I do not KNOW official Clark supporters (I never said Clark herself) are behind this, but when the name of "concerned citizen" Don Schley, who brought the story to KRDO's attention, is searched in conjunction with Sallie Clark, the results are a bit suspicious - even you must admit that.
From the sounds of it, you're doing impartial research and will give Ms Magistrelli a fair shake. I applaud your efforts. I defer to your impartial investigation and look forward to your reporting.
Haven't any of you clued in? This story is dead - the media never continued this thinly disguised political attack - in short slang, one could say "that dog don't hunt." The continued "slash and burn" tactics of Sallie Clark supporters is only damaging her campaign and, in the long run, the Republican Party. Get over it, the Republican Party designee for District 3 Commissioner is Karen Magistrelli.
In the face of it al the "concerned citizen" and "anonymous" accusations, I have to say that I am surprised at how open Karen Magistrelli has been about the whole issue.
I was surprised to read that the DHS shreds all paperwork. What is interesting is that they can investigate - and while all that material is retained, any paperwork that might clear an individual or family is shredded? The paper work should be part of the permanent case file - how many reputations are on the line because the state DHS did not keep the information? I hope the county DHS is not as sloppy and makes sure that alleged victims AND those accused are treated fairly.
I have one concern about the Sheriff's office. Considering that Sheriff Maketa endorsed Sallie Clark at the County Assembly and he appears to have a good reputation, I hope he stays away from this because this story could start looking to the voters like a growing smear campaign by the Clark camp. I was actually a bit shocked that the head law enforcement officer of the county endorsed Sallie Clark; I think a Sheriff should take a position of strict neutrality. Any future actions could be perceived as taken on behalf of Sallie Clark.
We need to restore the two-term limit - it serves as a checks and balances measure to keep a person from gaining too much political power, where it is difficult for a challenger to have a real chance at winning against an entrenched incumbent surrounded and supported by other entrenched incumbents - political favors and cronyism becomes more prevalent. Term limits bring in fresh ideas, new perspectives , new expertise and gives others who want to serve their community a shot. Once a person is in a position for too long, they begin to relish power and suffer from narcissism, and the chance of abuse of power are greater. Just because Obama might think he is popular, would he therefore justified in using a devious, albeit legal, Congressional maneuver (remember Obamacare) to extend his term to three? If Clark, Hisey, and Lathen had just voted to place a more clearly worded term limit on the 2011 ballot, it could have been decided one and for all.
