One thing not mentioned in this article was the OVERWHELMING number of participants who voiced their very serious concerns in the public comment segment as well as calling for the highest level of regulations on the industry in the event the moratorium is dropped. There were only about 5 'residents' who defended Ultra and we were accused of being driven by fear and not science. One gentlemen stated that those of us at the meeting were NOT a true representation of the Colorado Springs community- in my opinion implying that we were all the 'crazy tree huggers'. Cost analysis was brought up by the 'drill baby drillers' as though the health and safety of our children can somehow be quantified. I was proud of my fellow citizens who came out and I encourage EVERYONE to start calling council to extend the moratorium which is ironically set to run out BEFORE the O & G committee even gives their opinion to Council. If Ultra wants in so badly and are so confident that fracking isn't hazardous then making them wait another month or so until we have all the FACTS shouldn't make them upset at all. Please find my page on f/b if we are so inclined.
