Mr Justice, you don't understanding how taxes work. If Romney contributes $2 million to his church, he doesn't get a tax credit (a dollar for dollar reduction in taxes owed), he gets a deduction (a reduction in taxable income). His taxable income would go from $20 million to $18 million. He would still owe tax on $18 million. Please do your homework before making absurd statements like you made in your post.
There goes Pam again. Writing about things that she really doesn't understand, such as budgets. You should have run this by an accountant or finance person before you ran with it, Pam. Here is a link that explains the whole Strategic Moves Project and the approx $10 mil spent on companion projects that Pam would like us to believe is a spending overrun.
And Fiscal Realist/Rick Wehner, you really shouldn't be so quick to jump on Pam's reporting as a basis for your continued bashing of the county. The question I have is why is somebody who lives in Ft Worth, Texas so concerned about little old, conservative, El Paso county, that you put time and resources into chipping away at our conservative, Republican, elected officials. Is it that you are trying to turn the tide and turn us more liberal? I know what I think the answer is. I will let others draw their own conclusions.
