The schools like it because the more kids that are diagnosed with a problem the more funds they receive. The drug companies like it because 85% of test takers get put on a drug plus they gain a large data base of new customers.
Did you know that Teen Screen is a questionaire that the parents have to sign if they refuse it, not to give permission to take it? Did you know that if a child answers questions with yes, such as "have you ever felt sad" (who hasn't) the chances of being put on medication whose side effects can be suicidal/homicidal tendencies is very high and Drs pressured by drug reps are going to pass on that pressure to the parents. I would like to see the statistics of how many of the suicides were taking anti-depressants. The majority if not all of the mass murders done by teens or young adults were on medication but the media is told to keep that under wraps unlike touting ridiculous reasons that suicide rate has to do with a high rate of gun ownership.
