Re: “Waste Management closes public recycling spot

My family has been recycling everything we possibly can including plastics, glass, cardboard, etc. to the tune of 6-8 large trashbags per month. We wanted to do what we can for the environment even though we don't have much money.

Now that the recycle station is closed, Waste Management says they will pick up the recyclables FOR AN EXTRA FEE. We cannot afford an extra fee on top of what we already pay, just so they can make even more money off of those things when they resell them. The transfer stations will accept the plastic, but again there is the fee of dropping things off there in addition to the gas to drive 20+ miles, something that can't be done on a tight budget.

So until there is someone who is more interested in the environment than the extra fees they can squeeze out of those who want to help the environment, our plastics, glass, and cardboard will go into the dump where it will sit for the next thousand years.

Re: “Red-blooded

Very interesting and explains a lot. Has Alex published this thesis? If so I would love to read the whole thing.

Re: “Personhood by any other name

Let's call the people supporting this mess what they really are. They are not pro-life by any means, they are pro-fetus. The mother's life or health mean nothing. As soon as the child is born, they are on their own. Even when cases where the fetus will never live it must be born so it can die in agony.

The people in Colorado were smart enough to shoot down the same amendment three previous times. I sincerely they have the sense to do it again.

Re: “Lamborn draws fire again, stormwater pros and cons, oil and gas panel starts

Doug Lamborn is guilty of sedition at the very least, and most probably treason against the United States. Trying to subvert the safety of the US Military during an active air war can be construed as nothing else. And all because the President is of a different party and different skin color.

Lamborn and any other Tea Party Reps who can be proven to have done what Lamborn has confessed to, should be arrested and brought up before a military tribunal since that is their preference. If found guilty, then sentence should be carried out immediately, just like they prefer for others.

Re: “911 callers will get recorded message

Perhaps the City Council should turn loose of the stranglehold they have on the city's budget and take the citizen's safety seriously. How many extra operators would it take, on a part time basis, to cover this demand? Is it worth the life of one of the citizens?

If you get a recording, a person will be more likely to say "The hell with it," and try to get the heart attack victim into a car to take them to the hospital, or perhaps they will end up shooting an aggressor instead of the cops being able to defuse the situation.

It's time the city leaders to come to grips with the reality, and look into ways to fund needed services. The 'No-tax' ideals of the GOP have been proven to cause more damage than good and they should realize that.

Re: “Another suitor for Utilities steps up

You can say goodbye to reasonable utility bills and any kind of service if the City fatcats including Shuck get their way. Exel, who is based in Minn., has complaints against it for overbilling. This was investigated by Channel 7 in Denver who found that they had been overcharging for gas since 2011. People would see an increase of double on electricity and gas bills during the winter. One complaint said they were from Aurora, Co and they were gone for a month yet their bill showed no decrease. (…)

We have a good thing with a city owned utility, and if the people are smart they will demand the city council keep it that way. In spite of how much they think they will personally get from it.

Re: “All three GOP candidates in HD 15 push a conservative agenda

At the end of the day, no matter who is elected, their constituents will be the losers.
