Re: “Seize and desist

Republicans want to tell women what to do with their bodies, because they believe this is what we were instructed to do in a book written when men believed the earth was flat. The same book, they tell us, prescribes hatred against people who find themselves attracted to the same gender.
It's not a coincidence that these are the same people who decades ago opposed civil rights for black people and voting rights for women. It is important that we stand up and say no to these people. Let us stand up for freedom for all people.

Re: “Seize and desist

A quick look at the world shows quite clearly that nations that allow people freedom in the area of commerce thrive far better than nations that over-regulate. Look at West Germany versus East. The same people but vastly different standards of living. Same with Hong kong and Taiwan versus mainland China. Free people prosper always.
But the most important issue for me is bigotry. We have one party that wants to remove millions of men and women who came here, at great effort and expense, to join the American family. Because, in their view, these immigrants would harm America by taking jobs and using taxpayer funded services. It has in fact been documented that immigrants build more businesses than native born Americans. They create jobs. They pay rent to an American business. They buy food from stores and restaurants owned by Americans. They develop a loyalty to America and their children know only America.

Did previous immigrants harm America? It seems to me they built America. Why is it different for these new immigrants? Would the right wing be as vociferous if these immigrants were British? The party that riles the most against government wants to tell me who I can hire, or rent to or sell to based on nationality. I want freedom to do business with who I choose.
