I am currently a recipient of these gas cards. While I can understand both sides to this debate to some degree, I highly support the funding of these programs because I know first hand how much the gas cards help me be able to get to school. I am a single mom, going to Memorial Hospital's School of Radiology. This is a 2 yr program, 40 hours a week with no pay. However when I finish school, I will be able to support my daughter and give back to this program that has helped me tremedously. I am so grateful for the gas cards because there have been times that without them, I would not be able to make it to class/clinicals. Our clinicals are a variety of 8 sites all over town, and PPWFC does require monthly proof that I am still in school, my grades are good, need, and a mileage summary. I wouldn't have been able to better mine and my daughters future w/o this program. I am a hardworker and my grades are 94% or higher and I have upheld this momentum for 1 3/4 yrs.
