The Yarn Outlet has graduated from being a discount yarn store to being a top destination for every yarn from I'm-just-learning-acrylics to designer cashmere, silk, alpaca and organic hand-painted special fibers. Their needle and accessory selection is great and it is now even less likely that you can leave without buying something. The owner is helpful and friendly and so are the knitters, of whom I am happy to be a regular one.
Regarding the solar electricity net metering: the utility company does not pay full price for what they are fed from our panels. They pay a fraction of what they then charge us every night for our use of what they produce 24/7. The electricity we produce doesn't cost them any more ( less, in fact) than what they produce and certainly isn't using their infrastructure more because of where it is coming from. Most people I know who have solar are not using leasing companies and so own their own part of the grid. I guess I don't understand how buying electricity at 1/4 the cost of that at which they sell it back to me could be ruinous for them in the long run.
