Live tissue is the only way to get excellently trained medics, pure and simple. None of the current trauma simulators are adequate to recreate the experience of working on an injured person. I would like for this to not be the case, and I applaud the efforts to engineer a solution. But if you are to believe that LTT has not saved many human lives, you are very mistaken. After surgical training with live tissue, I have personally taken over procedures from resident trauma MDs under pressure because I had the experience that they don't get to have until a human life is on the line. As any of the MDs that run that military program, and they will all tell you: if they were bleeding on the ground, they would rather have a 6-month LTT trained SOCM medic running to their aid than a trauma surgeon.
