They track every purchase you make, create a customer profile, and direct coupons, mailers and other targeted marketing promotions at you based on your purchase history. Of course they sell the data. Target has even been known to determine the probability that a woman is pregnant based on purchases of a variety of products like cotton balls, estimate the approximate due date, and send advertising for baby clothes, diapers and formula! Talk about profiling...
