Much as Tim Leigh is, Angela Dougan is ethically-challenged. It would be completely appropriate for Republican leaders to reprimand her for misrepresenting their support. It is so sad that two sitting City Council members behave the way they have (http://www.csindy.com/coloradosprings/loca…). I hope we will elect better, more ethical representatives!
First, we would like to publicly apologize to Jill Gaebler. Our initial contact information for her was incorrect and we failed to follow-up and provide her with the questionnaire. It was never our intention to exclude a candidate. Our process in this election was to contact every candidate for whom we had information and request they complete a questionnaire. If a questionnaire was completed and returned, we attempted to schedule an interview. We received questionnaires from 12 of the 24 candidates and were able to intervew nine. Candidate's completed questionnaires can be found on our website at www.csuadvocacy.com. Our President will contact Jill today to see if she would still like to complete the questionnaire, which we can post on our website.
However, we do reaffirm our endorsement for Bernie Herpin based on one distinquishing characteristic: his proven record on City Council of reflecting our priorities and values as stated in the article above.
I also wanted to clarify something for Jill and readers of her comment. First of all, we are not CSU. We are an advocacy group made up of CSU employees whose purpose is to be sure employees' voices are heard and represented. We are a separate non-profit organization, similar to the Police Protective Association.
