Re: “The two sides of Terry Maketa

Ralphie, you're an idiot. Maketa has over 11,500 "likes" on his FB page...A Whole Lot of People For John Morse has 2,400.... Clearly, Maketa speaks FOR the people that Morse and his East Coast influence (including Obama) are trying to strip of their rights.

Re: “How one free-swinging group helps Colorado conservatives make a splash in politics

As usual Chet, you failed to get the facts and spew inaccurate rhetoric! Sheriff Maketa, at every speaking opportunity I'm aware of, has discussed in great detail how these laws are unenforceable, which is a key point in their lawsuit. And he discusses how they criminalize law-abiding citizens. One of his most common themes is where a fire evacuee or person who lost their home and has the fortune of a friend to store their weapons and high capacity magazines while they stay at a hotel, is breaking the law. Or how about the example where a member of the military leaves his firearm for safekeeping with his fiancee while he is deployed, and fails to get a background check every 30 days during that deployment. Now, both the military member and his fiance are breaking the law. I suppose that's just rhetoric as well. Let's see what your position is when the courts find our sheriffs were correct, which could happen as soon as the court hearing on Wednesday. I've personally witnessed him speaking to this topic. There is no outrage, he merely presents it in a factual manner. It's you trying to sensationalize and create outrage.

Re: “Sheriff Maketa, not letting evil prosper

Chet Hardin, since you obviously follow Sheriff Maketa's FB page, you ought to check one of his latest posts where he points out the survey the president was referring to. The president lied to us when he stated 90% of Americans support background checks, when the actual survey question asked if people would support background checks at "gun shows". The words "gun shows" was not mentioned in the federal legislation. As a journalist, maybe YOU ought to check YOUR facts. Comments that these laws will prevent another Sandy Hook or Columbine have been stated by the president on numerous occasions, as well as the governor and other proponents of these bills. Why do you think they parade around the victims of Newtown? He is using what he can, sad as his tactics may be, to suit his agenda! Funny how he never brings up his home town of Chicago, as its strict gun control laws have failed, at the expense of the citizen's 2nd Amendment rights! Anybody who believes that these gun control laws are not the first step in our government's attempt to take away ALL of our 2nd Amendment rights is a fool. Sheriff Maketa IS a rockstar!!!

Re: “Waldo Canyon Fire reporting, the gun debate, and tax-season blues

Ms. Addy Hansen: We all know you are a "highly intelligent person" and all, and you know so much about the citizens here in our great county, however, your "intelligence" has been overshadowed by your lack of good old fashioned common sense! You have driven 20 miles, one way, weekdays since September and have not witnessed an increase in county patrols...Gee, let's see, the ballot initiative didn't even pass till November!! Do you really think they just pluck people off the street, suit them up in spiffy uniforms, give them a car and send them on their merry way to patrol the county roads? Get a clue!! Give the Sheriff's Office time to post the positions, go through the hiring process, select qualified candidates and train them... You're a true genius!!
