While Elise Rothman d'Hauthuille did not create this cooperative single-handedly, she is by far the largest contributing factor to Local First Grocer being brought to fruition. The drama and chaos that has been created by the Board Of Directors is shameful and arguments against Elise are petty. She has done nothing illegal, unethical or otherwise. Her approach is both honest and direct (EXACTLY why she was able to pull off the grocer opening in the first place) and her assertive behavior is not new nor a surprise. However, after many months of commitment, sleepless nights, networking and promotion it is sad that the board wishes to simply replace her... knowing full well they never would have had the ability to open the grocer on their own. As a community member and small business owner, I have not shopped at Local First nor supplied wholesale goods since Elise's departing, additionally I signed the petition to remove the current board.
We are so proud to be part of this new school and are grateful our family has a different choice for our children's education. We are also extremely grateful that we have found a community of like minded individuals. Well done Neah!
