The mayor and the mind eraser
            by Bryce Crawford
Recently, Mayor Steve Bach's been walking around, dropping heavy-handed hints about what he plans to recommend Colorado Springs City Council do about recreational marijuana at its May 28 meeting. It started at his May 14 press conference, when he called recreational marijuana a "public-safety issue" and compared retail outlets to adult bookstores (see here), and continued at a town hall meeting the next day.…

Welcome to our 12th edition, where we cover the (mostly) good vibes in Marijuanaland
            by Bryce Crawford
It's something of a heyday for marijuana lovers. Pew Research Center just released a poll showing that 52 percent of those contacted support the outright legalization of marijuana, the, ahem, highest amount ever.…

Here's a recording of Sean Paige's robo call:
[audio-1]

Also, Keith King's campaign manager, Daniel Cole, sent us this assurance via e-mail regarding property taxes for King's home:

"Keith and Sandi pay those property taxes jointly."

—————————-ORIGINAL POST THURSDAY, MARCH 14, 2:32 P.M.—————————————-

The right wing is out in force trying to influence the City Council election, but it's unclear whether all efforts are in line with restrictions placed on certain nonprofit organizations.

Americans for Prosperity, a Koch family-backed enterprise used to advance the tea party, has what's called 501(c)4 status under the Internal Revenue Service, meaning it doesn't pay taxes.…

Language for two proposals to change the city charter is now available, thanks to the woman proposing them, Kanda Calef.

Calef has been active in Republican Party politics locally and has been watching closely Mayor Steve Bach's push to bag the coal-fired Martin Drake Power Plant to make room for lower downtown development.…

The days surrounding the Waldo Canyon Fire saw buildup of all kinds of pressure in the community. The best thing, though, was where much of that energy went: to helping, to thanking, to caring for the people affected.…

Fans of A Prairie Home Companion who attend Saturday's performance at the World Arena will see the regular cast, with one exception: Fred Newman, the show's road man for sound effects. Newman — perhaps the only Harvard Business School graduate to make a living imitating animals, cars, gunshots, thunderstorms, creaking doors, flatulence and an assortment of other unpredictable noises — humbly distinguishes himself from Tom Keith, who does sound effects for home performances in St. Paul.…
