Quote: People are living in Tent City not because of adjustable rate mortgages (WHICH IF IT WERE TRUE THEY WOULD HAVE AGREED TO) or unemployment
End Quote.

So aside from the standard Republican line about homeless PEOPLE all being drug addicts or "crazy"... what you're suggesting is that mortgage bankers, who are very experienced in handling financial instruments, such as mortgages, and STILL have accountants read the mortgages or other papers for them, because they're so much smarter than people who never had the money to put into financial instruments and thus, have no experience with them...

The bankers therefore were entitled to rip the people off because the people weren't quick enough to catch them.

I had to reapply for Kaiser Permanente insurance when I moved back to Colorado from California in November 2009, even though I'd been a member in California for 2½ years, and a member in Colorado before that. Surely I'm in Kaiser's databases — and they claim to be on health-care technology's cutting edge — and yet I had to fill out the 20-page application again!

People are living in Tent City not because of adjustable rate mortgages (which, if it were true, they would have agreed to) or unemployment, but because of substance abuse. I agree that the Olympic handout money would have been much better spent on community services, including drug and alcohol rehab programs.

The reform proposed will not give millions of Americans access to basic health care. Everyone in America (citizen or not) already has basic health care guaranteed by EMTALA.
