According to the SSCS disinformation site they dismantled most of the equipment themselves, and then “sold” the hull in 1992. Actually they abandoned it and it sat for 12 years before it was finally taken care of by Canada’s Ship-source Oil Pollution Fund(SOPF.)

FYI, The Minke whale, the primary species targeted by the Japanese, is no more endangered than every other living thing on Earth. In other words, it is not considered an endangered or even threatened species.
