For reference, these are the stated goals of the City Committee (taken verbatim from one of the presentation slides):
- Fulfill role as “unpaid advisors” to new council and mayor – April 2011 onwards;
- Continue to be catalyst for change to a more effective data-driven, best practices approach ultimately supporting continuous improvement in provision of services by local government;
- Establish ongoing, positive working relationship with new mayor, council and staff;
- We are here to help you, and Colorado Springs, succeed.

One of the strengths which new Council members will bring to our city government (and arguably one of the weaknesses of the former City Council members)is the importance of being willing to listen to new, or just different, perspectives and ideas.

Those of us bold enough to wear a mustache have long fought baseless stereotypes that we have unhealthy obsessions with small children, drive window-less white vans, and are, in general, a strange breed of transient highwaymen.
