Is Fort Carson going to be able to provide army housing for all of the new military families that will be moving out this direction? It seems like that could definitely be a problem.

You should ask Lynn Rivera for a list of all of its contractors and the initial residences of all of its employees. The bigger issue with the housing is why we award contracts for home construction at our AF and Army bases here to foreign companies.

Wonderful how we can get so many predictions of lost income and scandal based on what?
This area has done such a wonderful job bringing in large employers like HP (oh wait, they left), uh Intel (dang), MC..(rats) uh Western Fo..(oh they're way reduced too...)

The fact is that A CAB on Carson means money in local tills. GIs and their families do not do all that much shopping on post (check out the stores near Carson), they but cars and pay the tax on that, stereos, pizzas, lap dances, and computers all in the local economy.

Thank you, Pam Zubeck for your great, as always, article, and CSaction, for all the additional info..

It sickened me, about two months ago when on a visit to the D.C. area, I met the lead attorney in the current suit against military/industial/corporate complex giant, Lockheed Martin. The attorney filled me in on the details: over $1.3 billion defrauding of the U.S. govt., over a ten year period, with a number of the actual initial contracts signed here in Colorado Springs.

Come on, folks, let's wake up.

In 2000, the government of Lesotho charged Balfour Beatty with paying £2.2m to government agents in bribes to get approval of lucrative contract amendments in the building of 5 Highland dams.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2000/ju…

The bribe recipient got 18 years, BUT Balfour Beatty got off from the World Bank blacklisting.

Under its finance director at the time, Ron Henderson, previously with Halliburton and Arthur Andersen, Balfour Beatty was responsible for the Heathrow tunnel collapse of 1994. It was fined £1.2 million – at the time the largest ever imposed, after failing to ensure the safety of both its employees and members of the public.
http://www.powerbase.info/index.php/Balfou…

Henderson was also at Balfour Beatty when they caused the Rivenhall rail disaster, which killed 4 people after derailing at 115mph.

Sure there will be a housing boom, LAMEborn.
They have housing projects on 44 Army, Air Force and Navy installations in 20 states and 3,060 houses on Fort Carson.
Mayor Lionel River's wife Lynn is the Community manager at Balfour Beatty Communities and before she was Community manager at GMH Military Housing before Balfour bought them out.
