I was just watching former lobbyist, Jack Abramoff, being interviewed by Tavis Smiley. He said he would hire congressional staffers to work for his firm, but never an actual former congressman, because they are lazy, think they are entitled, and do not know how to write legislation or move it forward!

Mr. TejonTech, your contention is that the so-called "entitled government employee mentality" has stifled innovation. As it turns out, innovation in the Post Office is largely illegal.

Mr. TejonTech, if the Post Office were a private business, and not run by Congress, it would be making a profit right now. Profits are siphoned off from the Post Office to pay for other programs, on top of which the Post Office is saddled with the requirement of pre-funding its retirement plans to an extent not required of any other private or public enterprise.

Why of course, let's screw over the postal workers! (Plus teachers, cops, firemen, etc).

I must disagree with some of what you write, aj. It is true that staffing decisions are the province of management and that cutting costs has been the rule of the day in recent months, but the fact of the matter is that the lines in the post office are not any longer today than they have been in the last half century.

There are lines at the post office for the same reason there are lines at supermarkets, drug stores, department stores, and convenience stores.

      smartestman,

Postal workers do not control the staffing at the post office. The lines are long because someone in management made the choice to not schedule the appropriate amount of workers.

Believe it or not, management's idea of a good day is when there are no customers to serve and no mail to deliver since that means they came in under budget for that day.
