With an 'ultra-conservative' population, highly averse to taxes at all - the need for the city, county - and all taxing entities to come together for the common good and devise a means to meet the increased costs to maintain all critical needs as well as those non-essential items that boost the area's economy will be great. The three commissioners up for re-election have not played any role in developing a sense of regionalism.

The ironic part of this denial to place this current measure before the voters:

A previous parks funding issue (discussed above - but not the same initiative) was pulled off the ballot in order to hopefully secure commissioner support for a 'later' measure in return for the assist that would be provided in keeping the term limit off the ballot- and in a manner that would allow Mrs. Clark and Mr. Hisey to run - regardless of the 2012 vote.

So much for trust. It is an election year.
(Mr, Miss or Ms) Truth:

Much of the appeal of the Springs region for those who must live there is the mild dry climate and ample opportunity for outdoor recreational activity. Biking - hiking - trail spelunking, etc. If, local politicos are unable to work well together and with the community to find ways to provide and maintain trails and bikeways - -
- - people can move elsewhere.

@"The Truth", although each PPRTA member jurisdiction selects their capital projects for the ballot measure, they are all listed together without specifying the jurisdiction so trails, bicycling infrastructure, and transit are mixed with the single projects of Calhan and Ramah as well as the county roadway improvements.

Unfortunately Falcon, and the census-designated place Security-Widefield haven't had much visibility for their needs that might include bike lanes near school neighborhoods to help kids avoid the school buses and parental rides and / or carpools.

I, Lee Milner, do support using TOPS $ for bike trails. The few bicycle improvements that were being asked for had a "ride to work or school" flavor to them.

Also, we were promising to work to find an additional $424,000 to match the $106,000 that we were asking the County to approve.

Ever since 1992, there has been more of an emphasis on multi modal transportation.

It is incongruent to be the home of the Olympics and have an infrastructure that does not support health and athletic activity. Not to mention our roads, intersections, medians, and road sides look like a futuristic landscape after nuclear annihilation.
Hopefully we will be rid of old Sal here pretty soon, and we can rebuild our county from its current default setting.
