The bulk of the Medicare savings comes from negotiations with hospitals and other health care providers. Hospitals were willing to lower their prices because they would no longer be required to provide free medical care to indigents and the uninsured.

A fascinating conversation overheard Tuesday at Thunder and Buttons featured a Clark campaign staffer with the advertising firm representing her campaign discussing how to:

"Discredit her opponent (John Morris) as he is trying to pass himself off, and use the name recognition of another fine Democrat (John Morse)." "We need to take him down"

This is rather ludicrous in that neither of these fine, well-respected gentleman had much choice as to their names but it does indicate the sleazy tactics one can expect from Sallie Clark.

During the run-up to the caucus in February, another female incumbent on the board, Amy Lathen told one of my staff:

"You dare to oppose me, and I will bring down the full weight of the county on you"

Many seem to view the actions of Clark, Hisey and Lathen as unethical - a good case seems to have been made - and they are the ones who made it.
