What was your best-ever, anywhere? The International Art Festival in Taos. It involves artists from over 40 countries, most of the profits go to the artists, and you get to interact with them.
A lot was made of last summer's unveiling of the Fine Arts Center expansion. Have you seen it? I worked at the FAC during the expansion. It's a wonderful extension of the original architectural design.
Who's your favorite local artist/performer? A bluegrass band called Grass It Up. They're great musicians who play a lot of original stuff.
What group or event would you bring to town if you could? San Francisco has this annual event called the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival that brings huge numbers of musicians to Golden Gate Park to play for free. It would be awesome to do that here.
If you could meet any artistic great, who? I'd love to meet a bluegrass musician named Sam Bush. His music makes him seem like a fun guy to hang out with.
What's the best local arts event you've been to? The Indie Spirit Film Festival this past spring. It had a very nice lineup of films. Also, the Peter Max exhibit at the FAC. I'm a fan, and it was fun.
Who's your favorite local artist? John Swayne, a guitarist and singer-songwriter I saw last Friday at the Black Rose Acoustic Society.
If you could, what event or performer would you bring to town? I'd bring Richard Thompson in for an outdoor concert at Rock Ledge Ranch.
