There are certain galleries that bill avant-garde works, such as Rubbish (myspace.com/rubbishgallery) and Smokebrush Gallery (smokebrush.org). You can purchase works from these establishments, but a Friday night at, say, Rubbish is more a peek into the young and hip branch of the local artist pool. Look to Smokebrush for community-conscious angles to its shows and upcoming projects with the Pikes Peak Community Foundation.
