Brother Luck to move into former Ramon Q's; Catriona Cellars finally ready to open

Luck out (and back in)

Having just moved in this past October to 26 S. Wahsatch Ave., attached to the Triple Nickel Tavern, chef Brother Luck of Brother Luck Street Eats (213-3706) plans to shut down service the last week of May ... and reopen in the former Ramon Q's Cantina, 1005 W. Colorado Ave., in early June.

"We want to create the same vibe, as a culinary tasting bar," says Luck, "but take the Street Eats concept to the next level. It'll still be urban cuisine with a culinary edge to it, versus food straight off a vendor ... the big piece is that we'll finally be able to add the beverage component."

At the current space, the Nickel's bar has provided the booze, but its menu only goes dive-deep; diners haven't been able to match more gourmet grub with, say, a top-shelf whiskey. Luck calls mixology a part of his repertoire that he hasn't been able to show on the scale he plans to in the new space. "A chef should be versatile and understand the bar," he says.

Look for a sophisticated spirits list and a Colorado-centric beer list, with a new tap system. The larger space seats 45 indoors and 30 on the patio; Luck's inquiring about the viability of a chef's table inside the kitchen as well. The current menu's staples will stay, he says, while the last several months' experimentation has helped his crew "figure out what's fun, and what works," which will continue to inform weekly fresh menus.

Opening cellar doors

We told you here last fall about the coming of Catriona Cellars (243 Washington St., Monument, catrionacellars.com) in the former High Country Homebrew and Gifts spot, under owners Catherine and Woody Woodworth. Now the doors are finally ready to open, precisely at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 24.

The winery, which will source juice for blending and grapes from elsewhere to crush and age on-site, much like Cañon City's Winery at Holy Cross Abbey, will launch with a list of seven blends, both white and red, in its tasting room. The on-site Café at Catriona plans to dish small plates that use local ingredients, under the care of newly announced executive chef Patricia McClelland, former co-owner of Palmer Lake's Bella Panini, among other local kitchens.

À la carte

• Coquette's Bistro & Bakery (321 N. Tejon St., coquettesbistroandbakery.com), which opened early last month at its new location downtown, also opened a new mini retail marketplace this past weekend. Called Coquette's Bake House and located in the historic huts at 919 Manitou Ave. (next door to the former Coquette's) in Manitou Springs, it will sell all-gluten-free cupcakes, breads and take-and-bake frozen items, Thursdays through Saturdays.

Taste of Thai Spice has closed at 1609 Lashelle Way.
