The three musicians who most influence him — Ornette Coleman, Frank Zappa and Ludwig van Beethoven — are all dead and gone, but bassist, frontman and funketeer-for-hire Charlie Milo is alive and well in the local club scene. He's also released well over a dozen albums and mixtapes, with more on the way.
THIS YEAR'S MODELS
While there was a time when fronting the Charlie Milo Trio was his main gig, he's since diversified into an insanely varied array of directions. Projects over this past year include — but are not limited to — Elephant Pajamas (his completely improvisational jazz-funk group with Khalill Brown on drums and Dalan Neuenschwander on sax); releasing the first in a series of ambient albums under the name Stucco Junkies; and collaborating with Denver glitch artist PhloEthik.
IN HIS SPARE TIME
Milo also hosts "Mental Floss," a weekly open jam at Speak Easy Vape Lounge, which he refers to as "The Springs' Only No Rules Jam Session."
