click to enlarge Sinful (R) - Directed by Tony Marsiglia - Shock-O-Rama / POPcinema - I dont know about this one. Part of me sees it as an - honest, earnest attempt by B-movie maven Tony - Marsiglia to actually create art vastly different than his - previous output parts of Sinful successfully bring to - mind twisting acts of surrealitm like Eraserhead. On the - other hand, the story at times becomes so pseudo- - shockingly hackneyed that it might as well be plucked - from the pages of a 13-year-old emo girls MySpace - blog. Part of the problem lies with screen queen Misty - Mundae. Usually shes naked in erotic parodies like - Spider-Babe or Lord of the G-Strings, but here, in a fully - dramatic role as Lilith, a girl who desperately wants to - have a baby, she seems to be struggling to keep her - head above those heady acting waters. Raising the bar high from the get- - go, VICE dispatches correspondents to seven hell-on- - earth locales to document everything from the worlds - largest illegal arms market (Durra, Pakistan) to the - worlds most radioactive place (Chernobyl, Ukraine). - Though VICEs cameras capture unimaginable oddities - and horrid human conditions, providing the valuable - service of informing, the documentarians fall short, - thanks to a smug, were-so-cool (and, at times, - -ethnocentric-and-disrespectful) syndrome. The - segments are snarky and abrupt, but, overall, still well - worth a view. Try not to wet yourself watching comedian - David Cross eat dog in China (in the extras). Matthew - Schniper
