click to enlarge - DOA: Dead or Alive (PG-13) - - - Dimension Extreme - - Christopher Walken may be getting a ton of press for his - portrayal of an Asian warlord in the tepid comedy - Balls of Fury, but he was outdone a few months - earlier by Eric Roberts' unintentionally hilarious - performance in the straight-to-video masterpiece - DOA: Dead or Alive. Like the notorious video - game it was based upon, the movie is one long excuse to - have scantily clad females play jiggly volleyball games - and fight in martial-arts competitions, teasing the horny - male viewer the whole time. It's still a very fun, very - cheesy fight flick, though. What else can you expect from - the director of the equally insane Transporter - film? Originally slated for a summer theatrical release, it - was shelved and dumped here with no fanfare, and the - lack of DVD extras reflects that. Don't let that stop you - from checking this out. click to enlarge The Office: Season Three (NR) - - - Universal Home Video - - What I'm about to say may be a bit of a travesty to British - comedy purists, but I firmly believe the American version - of The Office is even more entertaining, - and actually a better show, than its English companion. - It's the best comedy on television, period. Season three - of the show proves this in spades, as the personalities of - main characters Michael, Dwight, Pam and Jim, and all - the periphery characters, become actual relatable - identities. The show is a brilliant, effortless mix of - comedy and pathos rarely seen on network television. - Plus, it's funny as hell. But fans of the show already know - all this. Universal really packed this box set with extras, - including three-plus hours of deleted scenes, which act - like six additional episodes. If you haven't seen The - Office yet, maybe it's time you start. - Louis Fowler

click to enlarge Splatter Beach (NR) - - - Camp Motion Pictures / Release - date: Oct. 9 - - Those lovable goofball directors, the Polonia Brothers, - architects of such no-budget masterpieces as - Splatter Farm and Peter Rottentail, are - back with their latest scare film. And, wouldn't you know - it, they've got actress Erin Brown, aka Misty Mundae, with - them. In a parody of '60s beach-party films, a group of - stereotypically dumb teenagers gathers at a seaside - surf-and-sand destination. They are attacked, one by - one, by a vicious rubber-suited monstrosity that loves to - eat flesh and rip off heads all to the strains of the - song "Surfin' Cadaver." The video for the song is - included on the DVD and someone needs to upload it - to YouTube, because it gives Denny "Average Homeboy" - Hazen a run for his nonexistent production value. The - Polonias can do no wrong in my book. Splatter - Beach is just another notch in their belt. - Louis Fowler
