Douglas Bruce, author of the Taxpayer's Bill of Rights, former state representative and ex-county commissioner, was granted parole nearly five months into a two-year prison sentence. He is eligible for release on Sept. 3.

Bruce was sentenced to prison in March following probation violations — he didn't comply with requirements to disclose all of his financial dealings and tax documents. Bruce was previously imprisoned for felony tax evasion.
