Lavender Film Festival, in its ninth year of bringing LGBT film to the city. The films, both long and short features, will be shown in venues at Colorado College. Sept. 19-21. Opening reception, Fri., Sept. 19, 6 p.m. at CC's Armstrong Hall. $5-$10 per film, $15-$25 for the reception, pplff.org.

Aspen Film Fest, a five-day feast of film and fall color with an emphasis on independent productions from around the world for filmmakers and film lovers alike. Sept. 24-28. Wheeler Opera House and other venues, downtown Aspen, aspenfilm.org.

Colorado Environmental Film Festival, a four-day event that includes world-class environmental films, an exhibition hall, topical forums and discussions, and a children's environmental film program. Rocky Mountain Womens Film Festival, a three-day celebration of women and film with selections ranging from shorts to feature-length dramas, documentaries, experimental films and animation. Nov. 7-9. Various venues, downtown, 226-0450, rmwfilmfest.org.
