Food lovin'

Street Smarts

Food. We need it, but we want it, too. Eating triggers not just taste but all five senses. And it can offer much more: comfort, satisfaction and memories.

What's the best thing you've eaten lately? I've been on a diet, so it's been beans, rice, fruits and veggies.

Do you remember the best meal of your life? I'm really in to the filet mignon at the Outback. But I don't get it often enough, maybe only a couple times a year.

What's one dish you cook or make really well? I make really good cheese enchiladas with green sauce.

What makes a dish authentic? It needs to be made with the traditional ingredients.

Name one food you couldn't do without. I like everything, but the one thing I have to have is something sweet.

What's the best thing you've eaten lately? Anything I cooked myself. I'm a hobby chef; I buy fresh whenever I can, and I like to eat local. I also like to cook with fish.

Do you remember the best meal of your life? Yes, it was Chilean sea bass at Aqua in the Bellagio in Las Vegas.

What's one dish you cook or make really well? I like to cook fresh-Mex, and I'd like to get a better handle on spices.

What makes a dish authentic? If it's cooked with creativity, ingenuity and a passion for food.

Name one food you couldn't do without. Chocolate. It's the ultimate food decadence.

What's the best thing you've eaten lately? The Greek Platter at Jake and Telly's. I'm a big fan of Mediterranean food, because it tastes really fresh.

Do you remember the best meal of your life? A white peach. I had just come out of a quest in Maine for four days with no food or water. The first taste of that peach was orgasmic.

What's one dish you cook or make really well? I make lasagna really well, and a really mean potato soup with Gruyere cheese.

What makes a dish authentic? Anything made with whole, fresh, preferably local and organic food. It feels alive.

Name one food you couldn't do without. Chocolate. It's the closest thing to heaven that I can imagine — except for that peach.
