Get it on: Boogie down(town)

Why a number of Tejon Street bars and nightclubs have lines out the door

Sometimes you want to dance, and sometimes you don't. But more often than not, Colorado Springs, you kinda do.

That's the reason there often are lines outside Rum Bay, The Vue and Ritz Grill not because the bouncers are playing hard-guy at the door. Let's be real here: Colorado Springs' most popular nighttime hangouts aren't exactly tough to get into (assuming you're of age and, in some cases, willing to pay a cover charge).

You just might have to wait because, well, the places are full. These hotspots, after all, offer the young-and-prowling set the perfect place to interact and mingle: on the dance floor.

Quite simply, the Guadagnoli family, which owns Rum Bay and The Vue (to say nothing of Blondie's, Sam's World's Smallest Bar, the Red Martini and Cowboys Night Club up north), gets it. The Ritz crew does, too, as evidenced by the cover bands scrambling to play there.

Of course, plenty of other legitimate downtown destinations eschew the dancing. They run from the south end of Tejon (Southside Johnny's) to the north end of the main-drag bar scene (Tony's) to the ones slightly east or west (15C, Shuga's, V Bar). They just aren't always crowded.

Point is: If you're looking for it, the Springs' nightlife probably has it.
